ختيار pool enclosure: dimensions, height, and snow load

Which pool enclosure should you choose? Start with the external dimensions of the pool and coping, the space for rails and how you will use the enclosure. A low enclosure gives a discreet appearance, while a taller one provides more space beneath the closed sections. At Pooltime, you can compare kits with a single rail or rails on both sides, with or without a side door.

Here we compare specific models for nominal pool sizes of 3 × 6 and 4 × 8 metres. The model name is an initial guide: the actual dimensions on the drawing determine whether the enclosure fits your pool.

The price examples are product prices including VAT, checked on 8 October 2026. Assembly, delivery and extra rails must be checked separately for the selected product and delivery address. Current prices and available accessories are shown on each product page.

Four enclosures in Pooltime's range
Model Internal width Enclosure length / maximum height Rails and door Product price
ICON KIT CLEAR 3 × 6 350 cm 620 / 61.5 cm Single rail, no side door SEK 79,900
ICON KIT CLEAR 4 × 8 450 cm 820 / 77 cm Single rail, no side door SEK 109,900
ICON KIT S2 4 × 8 425.4 cm 868 / 66 cm Single rail, sliding side door SEK 114,900
Classic 4 × 8 428 cm 848 / 145 cm Rails on both sides, side door SEK 89,900

All four models above have 3 mm clear polycarbonate in the roof and end panels. The word “clear glass” in the product names describes the transparent finish; the material is polycarbonate. Width, height and length use different measuring points: always check the full drawing, especially with raised coping or protruding steps.

Which of these enclosures fits a 4 × 8 pool?

ICON KIT CLEAR 4 × 8 is an option if you want short modules, a single rail and large clear panels. ICON KIT S2 4 × 8 combines a low height with a side door. Classic 4 × 8 is taller and has rails on both sides. A 4 × 8 metre water surface is not enough to confirm the fit: coping, steps, rail bases and opening space must also be accommodated.

Measure the pool area before ordering

  1. Measure the entire outside of the pool. Include coping and protruding details, not just the water surface.
  2. Check the width including rails. The enclosure's internal width and external width are different measurements.
  3. Measure the space behind the pool. The nested sections and any extension rails need to fit there.
  4. Check the height where it is needed. The tallest module's height does not describe the clearance under every section.
  5. Mark out rails and walkways on site. Try the route to the door and check equipment hatches, furniture and changes in level.

For example, ICON KIT CLEAR 4 × 8 is 517 cm wide overall and 820 cm long according to the product drawing. The drawing shows 3 metres of extra rail, giving a shown rail length of 1,120 cm. Extra rail is optional. For Classic 4 × 8, the corresponding external width is 484.4 cm and the shown rail length with a 3-metre extension is 1,148 cm.

Download the correct dimensioned drawing from the product page or our page with enclosure drawings and manuals. If you are unsure about the fit, send us the pool dimensions and photos before ordering.

Single rail, dual rails and side door

A single-rail enclosure is guided by a rail along one long side and runs on wheels on the other. This keeps the other side free of rails, but the wheels still need a suitable surface. An enclosure with rails on both sides needs stable, correctly positioned fixing surfaces along both long sides.

A side door lets you access the pool without moving the entire enclosure. ICON KIT CLEAR has no side door, while the ICON KIT S2 and Classic models in this comparison have one. Choose rail and door positions according to your route to the pool, not solely from the product image.

Snow load and winter: check the exact model

An enclosure must be assessed using the documentation for the ordered model, its dimensions and fixings. A load rating for another enclosure cannot be transferred to your model. Request documented load capacity and the manufacturer's instructions for snow removal and winter use before buying.

Do not assume that a closed enclosure can be left unattended all winter. Lock and secure it according to the manual, keep rails and openings clear and follow the model's care instructions. Do not substitute a general snow-depth limit for the manufacturer's instructions.

Assembly, warranty and total cost

Compare the same scope of supply when comparing prices. Check whether the enclosure is supplied as a kit, what any factory assembly includes, who installs the rails and what requirements apply to decking or paving. Extra rails and base preparation should be specified in the order.

Also request written warranty terms for the specific model: what is covered, which assembly and maintenance requirements apply and how service cases are handled. A warranty promise for a model range does not automatically mean identical terms for every version.

Frequently asked questions about choosing an enclosure

Which enclosure is cheapest in the comparison?

Of the four products compared, ICON KIT CLEAR 3 × 6 had the lowest product price when checked above. For a nominal 4 × 8 pool, Classic 4 × 8 has the lowest product price in this particular comparison. Then compare fit, assembly, delivery and accessories to assess the total.

Can I swim with the enclosure closed?

That depends on the model's clearance, access and instructions. Compare the height under the different sections and the door position. A taller enclosure provides more space, but check the dimensions before choosing.

Does the enclosure reduce heat loss?

A closed enclosure can limit evaporation and help the pool retain heat. The effect depends on factors including weather, temperature, how often it is opened and the rest of the pool construction.
