Suction fittings and main drains – features and use

Suction fittings and main drains include components that carry water from the pool to the treatment system. Correctly positioned and sized suction points support good circulation and allow the hydraulics to be adapted to the pool structure.

Choose with close attention to safety, flow and applicable installation requirements. Components, grilles, pipework and the pump must work as a system; incorrect sizing or a blocked suction point can create risks.

Choose main drains and vacuum connections separately

A vacuum connection is a connection point for cleaning equipment, while a main drain forms part of the pool's water circulation. The range includes vacuum connections with a 2-inch opening and 50 mm connection, as well as main drains in different shapes and sizes. Check which function the part must perform in your installation.

Liner, concrete, steel and polyester pools may need different flanges and sealing arrangements. Choose the correct version even if the visible front resembles an existing part. A matching pipe size does not confirm that the entire component is compatible with the wall or floor structure.

Drawings and service access

Assess suction point positions, grilles and flow as parts of the complete circulation system. Follow the installation design and component instructions. When replacing a part, record the front dimensions, screw holes, pipe connection and pool type. If only a grille or gasket needs replacement, skimmer and inlet spare parts may be the right category.
