Different types of pool

Pooltime offers two types of pool: PP pools and Thermopools.
A PP pool is delivered as a complete one-piece shell, so the pool itself costs more but installation is less expensive. A PP pool is made from polypropylene, an environmentally friendly material also approved for the food industry. A Thermopool is a lower-cost construction made from EPS foam and lined with PVC. It takes around 1-2 weeks to build a PP pool, and a capable DIY customer can install it themselves. A Thermopool takes 4-6 weeks to build, and construction experience is essential for a successful result.

A PP pool is supplied in one piece as a complete shell. As with other pool packages, PP packages with an enclosure are also available. Unlike fibreglass pools, a PP pool consists of a homogeneous material, giving it a much longer lifespan. Fibreglass pool walls slope outwards. If you choose a width of 3.6 m, bear in mind that there is a rim of around 8 cm all the way around, followed by the sloping walls, so the bottom may be only 2.6 m wide.

PP pool walls, by contrast, are straight. If you buy a 3×6 m pool, the internal swimming dimensions are also 3x6 m.

What happens when I buy a pool?

Once you have decided to buy a pool in Sweden, contact us by email or phone for a quote. Provide your address, the pool type and size, and any accessories you would like. Our experts will send a quote covering the materials and an approximate installation cost. If the price suits your budget, we arrange a free home visit with our pool expert and contractor. We review the pool's location, steps and accessories and advise on what to consider. The contractor assesses installation costs, as every site and installation is different. After the visit, you receive an updated quote. Once you approve it, we schedule the work. You can relax or go on holiday: our contractors can also build decking and lay patio paving, so you return to a turnkey pool installation.

Which pool is best for me?

If you are looking for a low-cost pool, there are options among both Thermopools and simpler constructions. These offer the lowest material and installation costs.

If you prefer quality materials in a premium pool that is health-friendly, environmentally friendly and quick to install, a one-piece PP pool is a popular option.

  • basic package – filtration system (pool pump/sand filter), lights, insulation, hoses, cleaning kit, chemical kit and connection kit
  • comfort package or comfort equipment – your choice of pool steps and either a robotic cleaner or a pump cabinet/plant room
  • heating package – pool enclosure, pool heat pump and heat-pump connections. Heating is an important consideration in Sweden, so we also offer complete pool packages with an enclosure and complete packages with a heat pump.
  • automatic chlorine or salt dosing – an automatic chlorine or salt dosing unit, plus 20 l containers for pool chemicals
