PP pools – modern, durable polypropylene pools
A PP pool, also known as a polypropylene pool, is a popular choice if you want a modern, durable, prefabricated pool made from high-quality materials. It is manufactured as a continuous polypropylene structure and delivered ready for installation, offering a straightforward route from dream to finished pool.
At Pooltime, we offer well-built PP pools adapted to the Nordic climate. They combine robust construction with a clean design and extensive choice of size, steps, colour and equipment.
What is a PP pool?
PP stands for polypropylene, a durable thermoplastic well suited to pool construction. It resists moisture and many of the chemicals normally used in pool care.
Unlike a liner pool, the polypropylene itself forms the finished interior. No separate liner is therefore needed.
The result is a pool with smooth surfaces, straight walls and a modern, premium appearance.
Pooltime PP pools – built for quality
Pooltime PP pools are designed for stability and long service life. Our Exklusiv PP pools have 12 mm UV-stabilised polypropylene walls and an 8 mm base as standard, with a 12 mm base available as an option.
The structure is reinforced with a robust 51 mm sandwich frame, giving the pool shell excellent stability.
The pool can be fitted with full-width end steps or corner steps, as well as different skimmers, lighting and other equipment.
Benefits of a PP pool
There are several reasons why more people are choosing polypropylene pools.
Prefabricated pool structure
Much of the pool is completed before delivery, reducing on-site construction work compared with several traditional pool types.
No liner
The polypropylene surface is also the pool's finished interior, so there is no traditional liner to install or replace later.
Smooth, easy-care surfaces
Polypropylene creates an even, smooth surface that is easy to keep clean, offering both a sleek appearance and straightforward pool care.
Straight walls provide plenty of swimming space
A PP pool can be built with straight walls and clean lines. This makes efficient use of the internal dimensions and creates a spacious feel even in more compact sizes.
Plenty of choice
A key benefit is the scope for customisation. Size, steps, colour and equipment can be chosen to suit your garden and your family's preferences.
PP pools with 12 mm walls
Material thickness is an important part of a PP pool's construction.
Pooltime's Exklusiv PP pool has 12 mm walls made from UV-stabilised PP. Together with the reinforced structure, this is an important factor in the pool's stability.
When comparing PP pools, do not look at price alone. Check material thickness, reinforcement, construction, step design, equipment and what the package actually includes.
PP pools with steps
Steps are both a practical and a visual feature of the pool. At Pooltime, different step options can be chosen depending on the model and size.
Full-width end steps create a broad, elegant entrance and can also provide seating. To maximise swimming space, corner steps may be a good option.
Pooltime's construction allows a clean transition between the steps and the rest of the pool's surfaces.
PP pools with a high water level
For a modern appearance, a PP pool can be fitted with systems that allow a higher water level.
With a high-water-level skimmer or invisible skimmer, the waterline can sit closer to the top edge than with many traditional skimmers. This creates a premium appearance in which the water surface plays a more prominent role in the design.
What size PP pool should you choose?
The best size depends on the available space and how you plan to use the pool.
Common sizes include 3 × 6 metres, 3.5 × 7 metres and around 4 × 8 metres. A smaller PP pool suits a compact garden, while a longer pool provides more room for swimming and activities.
Also consider the space around the pool for an enclosure, decking, paving, furniture and other outdoor features.
How is a PP pool installed?
A PP pool arrives largely finished, but installation still requires properly prepared groundworks and a suitable base.
Installation usually involves excavation, drainage and base preparation before the pool is positioned. Circulation, filtration, lighting and any heat pump or automatic water-treatment system are then connected.
Conditions vary between sites. Soil conditions, groundwater, level differences and access should therefore be assessed before installation begins.
How much does a PP pool cost?
The price of a PP pool depends on factors such as size, construction, steps and your choice of equipment.
It is also important to distinguish the pool price from the cost of a complete project. Groundworks, the base slab, installation, enclosure, heat pump, water treatment and other options all affect the total.
We therefore recommend comparing what a complete PP pool package actually includes, rather than only the basic shell price.
PP pool or Thermopool?
Both PP pools and Thermopools can be good options, but their construction differs significantly.
A PP pool arrives largely completed, with the polypropylene surface forming its finished interior.
A Thermopool is built on site using insulating blocks that are reinforced and filled with concrete. The interior is then finished, often with a liner.
The best construction depends on your site, preferred design, installation method and the features you prioritise.
PP pool or fibreglass pool?
Like a PP pool, a fibreglass pool is usually delivered as a finished shell. The main differences are the material and manufacturing method.
A PP pool is made from joined polypropylene sheets, while a fibreglass pool is formed in a mould from several layers of material.
Both options can be installed more quickly than a pool built entirely on site. The choice therefore depends on factors such as design, size, construction and personal preferences.
A complete PP pool from Pooltime
Pooltime has worked with pools and enclosures since 2007, helping customers from choosing a model through to a complete pool project.
You can combine your PP pool with an enclosure, heat pump, automatic water treatment, UV treatment, lighting and other options.
Our aim is to make it easy to choose the right solution from the start, whether you need a pool package or help with a more complete project.
Find the right PP pool for your garden
A PP pool suits those who value modern design, robust construction, smooth surfaces and the ability to tailor the pool to family needs.
We recommend comparing more than price. Look at material thickness, reinforcement, step construction, water level, equipment, warranties and what is actually supplied.
At Pooltime, we help you find the right size and equipment for your garden and preferences.
