First and foremost, you have the cost of the pool itself. You also need certain accessories for the pool, such as a pool robot, pool heating, pool cleaning, pool enclosure, and more. In addition to this, there is also a cost for the installation of the pool itself.
If you want an in-ground pool, you need someone to help you carry out the excavation work and assist with the installation of the pool. If you are handy, it is of course possible to both dig down and install the pool yourself, but for most people this is not an option.

The price of the pool
-
The price of the pool itself is often a major part of the total cost. There are many different types of pools to choose from, and the price of the pool is influenced, among other things, by its size and the material it is made of.
There is an old saying that goes, “buy cheap, buy twice,” and when it comes to buying a pool, it is important to keep this in mind. A pool is something you want to have for many years, and it should naturally be durable and suited to the Swedish climate.
Thermal pool
-
What is a Thermopool?
A thermopool is built on-site, and the construction process begins with pouring a concrete slab on which the pool will be built. The pool is then assembled using blocks that are filled with reinforcement and concrete.
The thermopool has a lower price than, for example, a PP Pool, but takes longer to install. This means that the total installation cost is usually about the same as if you buy a more expensive PP pool.
If you are a tradesperson with solid knowledge of construction and civil works, you can build a thermopool yourself and thereby reduce the total cost, but if you are not planning to build it yourself, it makes sense to consider buying a PP pool instead. -
How long does it take to build a thermopool?
The total time to install a thermopool is somewhere between 6–10 weeks.
It takes about a week to excavate, lay the base/drainage, and pour a concrete base slab. After this is done, it then takes a couple of days to build the pool and fill the pool blocks with reinforcement and concrete. Once this is done, you then need to wait about four weeks for the concrete to cure before you can use your new pool.
At Pooltime we sell both thermopools and PP pools, and we always recommend the solution that we consider right for your specific needs and circumstances. However, we recommend that you always look at the total installation cost of your pool and not focus solely on the cost of the pool itself, so that you get as fair a picture as possible of what the total cost will actually be.
PP Pool
-
What is a PP Pool?
A PP pool is made of polypropylene, which is a type of plastic that is durable, UV-resistant, and non-toxic. Polypropylene plastic is, among other things, approved as a material for drinking water containers. Polypropylene is a homogeneous material with high durability, and a PP pool has greater strength than, among others, a thermopool.
In addition to being built from a more durable material than a thermopool, a PP pool also has other advantages. A PP pool can withstand temperatures above 33 degrees, and for those who want to enjoy swimming in a heated pool, this is a major advantage. Another advantage of a PP pool is that it has good insulating properties, which reduces heating costs compared with other pool constructions. -
How long does it take to build a PP pool?
A PP pool is delivered as a complete shell in one piece, which makes the installation time shorter than for, for example, a Thermopool. The total time required to install a PP pool is approximately 2-3 weeks from the start of excavation until the pool is installed and ready to use.
If you have a high groundwater level where you live or unstable ground such as sand, a concrete slab must first be poured. If a concrete slab is needed, this is done about one week before the pool is delivered, as the base slab needs to cure for approximately seven days. If, on the other hand, your plot has firm ground and no high groundwater level, a base of sub-base, crushed stone, and drainage is usually sufficient. In that case, it is enough to begin excavation work 2-3 days before the pool is delivered.
Once the pool has been lowered into the ground, the skimmer, inlets, and lights are then connected. After this is done, you can begin filling it with water while at the same time backfilling the sides with dry concrete mix, which then forms concrete once it has fully cured. Backfilling a pool takes approximately 1-2 days (if you have access to two water hoses).
Labor cost and pool installation
As described above, labour costs for a pool are affected by several different factors.
Some of the things that affect the price of a pool installation include:
-
Type of pool
A thermopool takes longer to
install than a PP pool -
Site conditions
where the pool is to be installed
High groundwater levels and unstable ground are
two factors that affect the installation time -
Ground restoration or
paving/decking
We help restore the ground after
we have installed your pool and can help you build a deck around the pool or lay paving slabs

How much does a pool cost per month?
-
Having your own pool enhances both quality of life and makes your home a more beautiful place; there is something special about open water beside the house, even in a limited space.
Many people considering getting a pool want to know what it costs to have one installed and ready. However, there are also ongoing costs associated with owning a pool that are worth keeping in mind.
At Pooltime, it is important for us to be transparent about how we work and what the costs of a pool are, so that you as a customer can make a well-informed purchase decision based on facts. Our experience tells us that this approach also creates satisfied customers, which is very important to us.
To help you understand what it costs to own a pool, we have done some calculations on the ongoing monthly costs of a pool. -
-
Monthly cost for heating a pool
The monthly cost of heating a 4 x 8 metre pool with a water temperature of 28 degrees is approximately SEK 500–1,000 per month during the swimming season when you use a pool heat pump.
The exact cost depends on several different factors, including the size of the pool, how warm you want the water to be, how well insulated the pool is, and whether you have a pool enclosure installed or not. The cost of heating your pool is also naturally affected by the electricity contract you have and how expensive electricity is overall.
-
Monthly cleaning cost
To be able to use and enjoy your pool, you need to keep it clean.
The cost of cleaning your pool depends on which cleaning solution you choose and whether you have a pool enclosure installed or not.It is difficult to give a general answer as to the monthly cost of cleaning your pool, since the cleaning solution you choose affects the price. But to give you a rough idea of what the cleaning might cost, you can expect around 1 000 – 2 000 kr per month during the swimming season.
Tips for lowering the monthly cost of your pool
Pool enclosure
A pool enclosure is an excellent solution for keeping down the heating costs of your pool. A pool enclosure prevents the heat in the water from evaporating and instead keeps it trapped under the pool enclosure, which means that your heating system does not need to work as hard to maintain the water temperature.
In other words, you avoid “heating for the crows,” as the old saying goes. Another advantage of a pool enclosure is that it prevents insects and leaves, pollen, and other things from falling into the pool and contaminating the water, which reduces the cost of cleaning the pool.
Pool Accessories
Another way to keep the ongoing monthly cleaning costs for your pool down is to buy a pool robot or pool vacuum that automatically cleans the pool.
