High Pool Covers

When pool covers arrived in Sweden during the 2000s, only the high models were delivered in a box. The high models handle snow excellently and you don't have to worry about the pool cover if you take a winter vacation.

Another advantage of a high pool cover is that they are easier to keep clean. The curved pool cover has a steeper slope along the sides, which makes dirt and snow slide off more easily than on the low pool covers that have a flatter surface.

The curved pool cover is also better when snow accumulates on it; if you have a flat pool cover, it is best to sweep the snow away. If you have a vacation home/cabin with a pool that you don't monitor as closely, a high cover might be better as a winter cover.

The high pool covers have heights around 1.5 meters, which makes it almost feel like your own swimming hall and you get a long swimming season. You can jump, stand, and play throughout the entire pool. Many think they are large, but there are many advantages to large and high covers.

Medium-High Pool Covers

Medium-high pool covers usually have a height of about 90 cm. It is still a good height for a pleasant environment that allows you to swim and stand up in the middle of the pool. Heights under half a meter are considered more as protection.

When you have a cover that is under one meter high above the ground, neither a building permit nor notification is required. However, the distance to the property boundary must be at least 4.5 meters. If you need to place the pool and pool cover closer to your neighbor's boundary, you need the neighbor's written consent.

Medium-high pool covers are a good choice as they do not obstruct the view of the landscape, garden, or the neighbor's view. You can comfortably swim under a fully covered pool, and it allows free movement in the middle of the covered pool area thanks to the higher construction.

The medium-high height of the pool cover is thus a good compromise if you want to be able to stay and move under the pool cover but not block too much of the view from the house or for the neighbors. Medium-high covers also have models with more curved roofs, which makes cleaning easier and provides convenient winter covering.

It is convenient and easy to open the cover with sections that you can move in both directions. If you want, you can extend the rails so that the entire cover can be pushed away from the pool area.

The sliding system facilitates smooth movement of the segments in both directions. If the rails are extended, the entire pool cover can be pushed away from the pool area, so you can swim completely under the open sky.

Low Pool Covers

In recent years, there has been a big trend to have the lowest possible pool cover. Low pool covers do not obstruct the view from the house, which can be valuable if you want to enjoy sunsets or if you have a sea view.

Neighbors can also be a reason for this trend. Low pool covers do not block the neighbor's views, which results in fewer complaints from neighbors.

Another reason to choose a low cover is because of the low total weight, which made it easier to slide the cover sections aside and open the pool. Child-Safe and Pet-Safe Pool Covers

Unbreakable Polycarbonate, Multiwall and Clear Plastic

There are many choices to make when selecting a cover for a pool. Besides the height of the pool cover, there are a variety of material options to choose from. It is important to choose the material that suits you, your needs, and your pool. All the materials we offer are of high quality.

Unbreakable Polycarbonate

Polycarbonate is an incredibly good material for pool covers. It has high strength, which makes the pool cover's roof unbreakable. It is easy to work with and very resistant to UV rays. It is a tough material and withstands temperatures from -50 degrees to +120 degrees.

Multiwall

Multiwall is made of polycarbonate and has an air gap within the material. The multiwall plastic we sell has a thickness of 8 mm.

Multiwall has much better insulation capacity than clear plastic, but a disadvantage is that you do not have as good visibility through the pool cover. A pool cover made of clear plastic releases about 69% more heat than multiwall does.

Clear Plastic

Clear plastic is a solid sheet made of either unbreakable polycarbonate or SAN (acrylic). We sell clear plastic in thicknesses of 3 mm or 4 mm.

The SAN material is four times cheaper than polycarbonate but is less durable; polycarbonate is unbreakable. Polycarbonate is used, among other things, for police shields and is found on the sides of an ice hockey rink. Many choose clear plastic because it is easier to see through the pool cover.

Pool Covers Extend the Swimming Season

The trend of wanting lower and lower pool covers, despite the great advantage in Sweden of having a higher pool cover, is that you can swim under the cover even when it is windy and rainy outside. The aesthetic has simply taken over the practical.
