What’s Included in a Pool Package? Checklist Before Buying

A pool package brings together several key components in one purchase, but the contents vary. A good comparison therefore starts with a checklist: what is included, what is sized for the pool, and what must be bought or ordered separately?

Short answer: Compare the pool shell, filtration, plumbing parts, installation, and warranty at the same line-item level — not just the package name and price.

This should be specified in the package

  • Pool type, exact dimensions, and water volume
  • Pump, filter, and valves
  • Skimmer, inlet, and plumbing parts
  • Liner or other interior surface
  • Installation materials and documentation
  • Warranties for construction and equipment

Common options

A pool enclosure or other cover, heat pump, lighting, automatic dosing, and pool robot are often not included in the basic package. The optional extras should be sized together with the pool and not simply added afterward.

Ask for a clear list of required, recommended, and optional extras.

Groundwork and installation

Excavation, drainage, base layer, concrete, crane, and removal can be larger cost items than expected. Check who is responsible for measurements, heights, and preparations before delivery.

Electrical and certain plumbing work must be carried out by qualified professionals. Coordinate the timing so materials do not remain unprotected.

Check the sizing

The pump and filter must suit the pool’s volume and hydraulics. The heater should be assessed based on the desired temperature, climate, and protection. An oversized or unbalanced system is not automatically more efficient.

Ask for calculation data and a simple operating description.

Before ordering

  • Confirm the delivery boundary and responsibilities
  • Check drawings and measurements
  • Read the warranty and service terms
  • Plan storage and crane access
  • Ensure spare parts and support

Frequently asked questions

Is a complete pool package really complete?

Not always. The term does not have a single standard, so the detailed contents list is more important than the word complete.

When should a pool enclosure be ordered?

Early enough for measurements, rails, and delivery time to be coordinated with the pool and groundwork.
