Measurement Guide for Pool Enclosure – Base, Rails and Parking Space
Before you choose a pool enclosure, you need to measure more than the water surface. Use this checklist to gather the information needed for model selection and a quote. All final dimensions for tracks, fastening, and the base must be verified against the drawing and installation instructions for the current model.
1. Measure the pool and the pool edge separately
Record the length and width of the water surface, the outer dimensions of the pool edge, and the height of the edge in relation to the surface around the pool. Measure in several places if you are unsure whether the pool and its surroundings are straight. Mark any steps, ladder, raised edge, and other details that the cover must clear.
A cover described for a 4×8 metre pool is not automatically suitable for all such pools. The model’s internal dimensions, tracks, and openings must fit your installation.
2. Document clear space on the long sides
Measure the distance from the pool edge to walls, railings, steps, plantings, and other fixed obstacles. Note whether the surface slopes or changes level. Mark where you want the door and where access needs to be possible.
For a roof with rails, both the placement of the rails and the fastening must be planned. Decking, paving, and concrete are different substrates and require assessment based on the model's instructions. Do not assume that a visible surface alone is sufficient for fastening.
3. Measure the space for an open roof
Determine which direction the sections should slide. Measure the free space behind the pool and check the model’s parking dimensions: the space the sections occupy when they are pushed together. Ask whether extra rails are needed to open the entire water surface and check how they affect the walking area.
Photograph the site both from the pool and from the planned parking area. Mark the doors, gates, and roads that still need to remain accessible.
4. Check height and openings
The highest point of the roof does not describe the clear height in all sections. Check the interior height at the pool edge, steps, and the route you want to use to get in and out of the pool. If you want to swim with the roof closed or partially open, check what the manufacturer allows for the model.
5. Send clear documentation
- The pool's water dimensions and the pool edge's external dimensions.
- Heights and placement of stairs, ladders, and other obstacles.
- Free space on both long sides and by the intended parking area.
- Desired opening direction and placement of the door.
- Description of the surface and photos from several angles.
- Postal code and information about access for delivery and unloading.
Checklista for the quote
Ask for the model name, a drawing with relevant measurements, included tracks, doors, and optional extras. Check what applies to shipping, unloading, assembly, and any work required on the surface beneath. Only place the order once the product dimensions and responsibility for installation are clear.
