Pooltime · Buying guide & knowledge
The most important things first
The price of a stainless steel pool is determined by construction, dimensions, materials, interior fittings, and the scope of installation. Stainless steel is a family of materials, not a guarantee that every pool or component is suitable for all water environments. Ask for the specified steel grade, documented operating conditions, and a complete quote.
What is meant by a stainless steel pool?
Check that the term refers to the pool shell itself. A pool with a stainless steel ladder, skimmer, or decoration is not the same as a pool built of stainless steel.
AstralPool, for example, describes stainless steel pool constructions in its INOXPOOL program. However, every supplier needs to specify which materials and components are included in the particular project you are considering.
How the price should be broken down
| Item | What you need to compare |
|---|---|
| Pool shell | Swimming dimensions, depth, materials, and any special shapes. |
| Stairs and interior fittings | Entry, seating, and mountings. |
| Through-wall fittings | Skimmers, inlets, lighting, and connections. |
| Technology and protection | Filtration, heating, dosing, and pool cover. |
| On-site work | Foundation, drainage, transport, lifting, assembly, and electrical work. |
Ask that VAT and any additional work be clearly stated. The price of a pool shell cannot be directly compared with a price that includes a complete installation.
Stainless steel does not mean maintenance-free
Request instructions for water chemistry and cleaning, and ask what limitations apply to the selected steel grade. For a salt chlorination system, the suitability of the materials for the intended use must be confirmed.
Also assess the connections to other materials and how the different parts of the installation are intended to work together. It is not enough for sales copy to use the word stainless steel if important conditions are missing.
Installation and future access
Ask for a drawing showing the foundation and support, as well as how the construction will accommodate the site conditions. Plan transport and lifting before ordering the pool.
Technology, mountings, and connections must be accessible for servicing. Ask who is responsible for testing, leak testing, and documented handover. A clear allocation of responsibilities is valuable even if the pool is delivered largely complete.
Compare with other pool materials on equal terms
If you are also considering an option for a PP pool, fiberglass pool, or thermopool, the dimensions, stairs, and technology must be comparable. Look at both the installation and how you want to own and maintain the facility.
This guide is a basis for decision-making. A Pooltime quote applies to the construction and product range explicitly quoted; a custom stainless steel pool should not be assumed to be included in a standard package.
Frequently asked questions
How much does a stainless steel pool cost?
You need a price for a specified construction and scope. Dimensions, materials, interior fittings, technology, foundation, and assembly must be stated. Ask for a complete project calculation instead of an unspecified starting price.
Can a stainless steel pool be used with a salt chlorinator?
This must be confirmed for the materials and operating conditions of the pool and other components. Do not assume that all stainless steel constructions can withstand the same water environment.
Is a pool with a stainless steel ladder a stainless steel pool?
No. It only describes one component. Check what material the water-retaining pool shell actually consists of.
