- Choose placement – An optimal placement of the pool means maximum exposure to sunlight. This not only contributes to natural heating of the water, but also creates an inviting space for relaxation, for example at a gable staircase, which can significantly enhance quality of life. A strategic placement that makes the pool visible from the living room is recommended, as the illuminated water in the evening contributes to an aesthetic and calming atmosphere. To avoid the space feeling cramped, a distance of at least 1.5 meters around the pool. At the short side, opposite the staircase, a distance of about 3 meters should be reserved to allow for easy storage of the pool cover.
- Choose shape and staircase – Current trends show a strong preference for rectangular pools. For larger pools, for example 4×8 meters, a gable staircase is preferable as it offers a comfortable seating area. In smaller pools, such as 3.5×7 or 3×6 meters, it is often desirable to maximize the free swimming area, so a corner staircase is usually the most suitable solution.
- Choose color – It is important to note that the water's color will always be somewhat darker than the pool's color without water. A white pool will be perceived as light blue, a light blue pool becomes deep blue, and a gray pool gets a turquoise shade.

In addition to this, it may be wise to plan and prepare from the beginning for the installation of future accessories such as pool cover, pool heat pump, salt chlorinator or automatic dosing equipment.
