A slatted cover is rolled out over the water surface when the pool is not in use. Here you can compare above-ground models such as Top ONE and Top Comfort with recessed AquaTop models. The choice affects both the appearance of the pool area and the amount of space the installation requires.

On top of the coping or recessed into the pool?

An above-ground model has the roller at the short end of the pool and can be an option when you are adding it to an existing pool. A recessed solution needs to be planned together with the pool structure and installation space. Read more about pool with slatted cover before deciding on placement.

Check dimensions and design

  • Measure the pool’s internal width and length. Also specify stairs, rounded corners, and other shapes that affect the cover.
  • Check the space for the shaft, motor, and access for servicing.
  • Compare slat materials, colours, and controls for the model in question. Not all options are included in every design.
  • Request the model documentation for safety, locking, and installation. The function of the cover depends on it being installed and used according to the instructions.

A covered water surface reduces evaporation and helps the pool retain heat. Water testing, filtration, and cleaning are still required. If you also want to be able to slide a pool enclosure over the pool area, you can compare our pool enclosure.

Slatted covers with different roller positions

A slatted cover consists of slats that extend over the water surface and roll up when the pool is used. The category includes above-ground models such as Top One and Top Comfort, as well as submerged AquaTop solutions. The first key distinction is where the roller will be positioned and how much installation space is available.

An above-ground roller stands at the pool edge and needs space for fixing and access around it. A submerged system is planned as part of the pool construction, with room for the shaft, rolled-up slats and access to the equipment. For an existing pool, this can affect the extent of the modifications required.

Measure more than the pool width

The products come in different widths, but the order must also account for the pool's length and shape. Steps, corners and projecting sections may require a special design. Document the waterline and check the measuring instructions for the selected system. A drawing makes it easier to establish how the slats will move between the pool and the roller.

Compare which motor, controls, slats and anchors are included. Also check the material's conditions of use and how the cover should be managed in winter. Its safety function must be assessed from the model documentation and completed installation; it cannot be determined simply because the product is called a slatted cover.

Choose the range to suit the installation

For a visible roller, read more about Top One and Top Comfort. For built-in installation, see AquaTop 400 and AquaTop 800. To compare slats with other cover types, explore pool covers. Consider both daily handling and access to the equipment for servicing.
