Skimmers and inlets for good circulation

A skimmer is strategically positioned at the pool's waterline to collect floating debris such as leaves, insects and fine particles. Water and the collected debris are drawn into the skimmer and carried by the pool pump to the filter for cleaning, ensuring cleaner, clearer water in your pool. Without a working skimmer, surface debris would accumulate, affecting both water quality and the pool's appearance. It can also lead to increased algae growth and bacterial build-up that harms the swimming environment. An effective skimmer is therefore fundamental to a healthy, enjoyable pool.

Skimmers, inlets and wall fittings have different roles

The skimmer carries surface water from the pool to the treatment system. Inlets return the water after filtration and any heating, while wall fittings provide the connection through the pool wall. These parts should therefore be chosen as a system. Matching pipe sizes are not enough if the flange, seals or wall fitting length are intended for a different pool construction.

The range includes Welldana adjustable floor inlets in separate versions for concrete and liner pools, plus Hayward's sealing flange with a 2-inch/50 mm connection. Check the variant's dimensions and installation method against the drawing. For a liner pool, the seal against the liner must also be correct; in a cast construction, the built-in fitting must be planned before the wall is completed.

For new builds and replacements

Mark the waterline, wall thickness and pipe routing on a simple sketch. Note which parts are on the suction and return sides, and leave access to the skimmer basket for cleaning. When renovating, a photograph of the existing flange, screw holes and rear connection is more useful than the pool name alone. If only a basket, weir flap or seal is worn, the right part may be available among skimmer and inlet spare parts.
