Kollektion: Water purification
A pool is truly a fantastic place for relaxation and enjoying the warmth during the summer months. To ensure that your pool remains a safe and healthy environment for swimming, however, it is crucial that it is properly cleaned and disinfected.
The process of purifying the pool water uses a combination of a pump and a filter. The pump is designed to circulate the water through the filter, where impurities such as dirt, algae, and other potentially harmful contaminants are effectively captured. This system ensures that the water remains crystal clear and inviting.
There are several different types of filters available for pools, each with its unique advantages. The most common types include sand filters, cartridge filters, and membrane filters.
Sand filters are the most established and popular filter type for pools. They offer a good balance between efficiency and cost-effectiveness. A sand filter consists of fine-grained sand that can capture dirt particles down to 20 micrometers in size, contributing to cleaner swimming water.
Cartridge filters represent a different effective alternative for pool owners. These filters are equipped with a cartridge of filter material that is capable of capturing finer particles, down to 5 micrometers, resulting in an even higher degree of water clarity. Membrane filters constitute the most advanced and effective option among filter types. With its membrane containing extremely small pores, a membrane filter can capture dirt particles down to an impressive 0.3 micrometers, providing unparalleled water purity.
In addition to filtration, disinfection of the pool water uses chemicals to eliminate bacteria and other microorganisms. The most commonly used disinfectants are chlorine, bromine, and ozone.
Chlorine is the most widespread disinfectant for pools. Its effectiveness against a broad spectrum of bacteria, algae, and other microorganisms is well documented, making it a reliable choice for water hygiene. Bromine is a different effective alternative that is similar to chlorine in its function but is generally milder on the skin and eyes, which can be advantageous for sensitive swimmers. Ozone offers a powerful disinfection method that has the significant advantage of not generating any byproducts. Although ozone can be a more expensive option compared to chlorine and bromine, it provides exceptional purity and minimizes the chemical load in the water.
