Why consider buying a pool heat pump?
Given the Swedish summer’s often unpredictable weather, a pool heat pump has become an increasingly sought-after accessory among pool owners. This unit is designed to be user-friendly, aided by its built-in flow switch that automatically detects and responds if the water flow decreases or stops. It is also equipped with an integrated timer function that enables a smooth connection of your circulation pump to the heat pump, optimizing operation and energy efficiency for your pool. Investing in a pool heat pump is a smart choice for anyone who wants to extend the swimming season and ensure a comfortable bathing experience regardless of the weather.

Why should I choose an Azuro pool heat pump?
Azuro heat pumps are reliable yet competitively priced budget pool heat pumps. Azuro pool heat pumps are available both as ON/OFF and as inverter pool heat pumps.
Why should I choose a Brilix pool heat pump?
Brilix heat pumps are a bestseller in Sweden. The XHPFDPLUS model is an ON/OFF pump, while the XHPFDPLUS-E is an inverter pool heat pump with a variable-speed compressor. If you choose the XHPFDPX model, you get a powerful machine with full inverter technology where the compressor, fan, and valve are all variable-speed, and you can raise the capacity COP value to over 13!
Why should I choose a Pahlen pool heat pump?
Pahlen’s heat pumps are our latest addition. Pahlen is synonymous with premium products, and they have delivered here as well. Their Calidi pool heat pumps are available as inverter pumps with high quality. Plastic cabinet that will not rust and reliable operation.
Difference between ON/OFF pool heat pumps and inverter or full-inverter pool heat pumps?
ON/OFF heat pumps are the most common and simplest pool heat pumps on the market. These measure the pool water temperature and either start at full power at 100% when the temperature needs to be raised or shut off when the set temperature has been reached.
Inverter / semi-inverter pool heat pumps have a variable-speed compressor, while the fan and the three-way valve remain like those of an ON/OFF pump. With a variable-speed compressor, the heat pump can run at a certain percentage of total output—e.g., only 40%—to save energy. Inverter pool heat pumps are therefore an economical solution and usually have a COP value of 9–12. Semi-inverter heat pumps offer fan speeds with 3–5 steps.
Full-inverter pool heat pumps have a variable-speed compressor, fan, and three-way valve and are the most optimal and efficient pool heat pumps on the market, with a COP value around 16–20.
Inverter heat pumps have three options on the display to choose from:
Silent – Operation is optimized to minimize fan speed and the heat pump runs at 10–30%
Smart – The heat pump runs at 30–80%
Power – The heat pump operates like an ON/OFF pump and the speed rises to 80–100%
What should you consider when buying a pool heat pump?
When buying a pool heat pump, consider the placement of the heat pump, the size of the heat pump, and the type of pool heat pump you want. The heat pump should be placed as close as possible to the pool’s inlet so you do not lose heat between the pool heat pump and the inlet. A general guideline is to place the pool heat pump closer than 10 m from the inlet.
How do I know which pump I need for my pool?
You choose a pool heat pump based on the pool’s size. A general guideline is that a 3x6 m pool with a pool enclosure can maintain 25 degrees with a 5kW pool heat pump. A 4x8 m pool with a pool enclosure manages with 9kW, and a 5×10 m pool with a pool enclosure works with a 12kW pool heat pump.
If you remove the pool enclosure, you need to go up one size, giving a 3×6 m pool 9kW, a 4×8 m pool 12kW, and a 5×10 m pool a 16kW pool heat pump. Much depends, of course, on the outdoor temperature, as a pool can easily drop several degrees overnight, especially when it is cold outside.
Accessories for pool heat pumps
For pool heat pumps, a recommended accessory is a bypass connection consisting of three ball valves. With a bypass connection, you can control the water flow through the pool heat pump. If the flow is too fast, the water can pass through without the heat pump even heating it, and you will lose efficiency.
You can also purchase a wall bracket for heat pumps. The floor mount with rubber feet is included in the package.
