Stainless steel pool lights – features and use

Stainless steel pool lights create a stylish appearance and make the pool area more inviting at dusk. A stainless steel finish is particularly suitable when visible details should match the skimmer, inlets and other pool equipment.

Plan lighting around the pool's length, width, depth and surface finish. Light placement affects the lighting pattern; correct direction reduces glare towards the patio and home and provides more even illumination across the pool.

Choose the right lighting for your pool

Check voltage, transformer, cable, niche or wall fitting and compatibility with the pool type. For a new build, decide the position and cable route before finishing the pool wall and surrounding surfaces.

What to check

  • Pool dimensions and construction
  • Capacity, connections and installation space
  • Compatibility with existing equipment
  • Care, servicing and winter care

Installation and routine care

Electrical installation must meet applicable requirements. Keep the light surface clean, check seals during servicing and follow the manufacturer's instructions for water level, replacement and winter shutdown.

Contact Pooltime if you would like help choosing stainless steel pool lights. Send your pool dimensions and details of the existing equipment so that we can more easily check which solution suits your project.

Compare individual lights with lighting packages

The range includes Pahlén Classic LED and packages from the Premium series. A package may contain several lights, cable conduits, a transformer and control equipment, while an individual light may need additional components. Read the contents of the specific package and check what is already installed. The number of lights, their positions and lighting pattern must suit the pool shape.

White light and RGB lighting offer different possibilities. RGB requires compatible controls; simply choosing a colour-changing light is not enough. Compare voltage, power and connections with the transformer and control box. The Pahlén Premium RGB product information describes a package with two lights and a shared transformer, for example, but other packages may have different contents.

Check the niche and seal when replacing a light

The stainless steel front's appearance does not tell you whether the light fits an existing niche. Check dimensions, fixings, cable entry and the intended pool construction. With salt chlorination, follow the model's material requirements. For replacing a smaller component, see pool light spare parts; further light types are listed under pool lighting.
